Frequently Asked Questions
  • To use OAR, do I need to turn off pop-up blockers?

OAR uses pop-up windows for some functions. While you are using OAR, we recommend that you turn off any pop-up blockers for the OAR site onlynot for all sites.

  • What are pop-ups? What is a pop-up blocker?

Pop-ups are screens that come up automatically when you are surfing the internet. You may go to one web page and an ad opens up on another page. Pop-ups are often the product of spyware. However, when you click on a link to intentionally open a web page in a new window, you are requesting a wanted popup.

Pop-up blockers block pop-up windows. Most people don't know that they have one or more popup-blockers on their computer because these programs are often anonymously included with other programs and even Windows updates.

The problem with most popup-blockers is that they interfere with wanted pop-ups as well as unwanted pop-ups.

  • How do I turn off pop-up blockers?

First you have to find them. Pop-up blockers can be included with AOL, Earthlink, Yahoo, Google, Windows Explorer, McAfee, Symantec, and many other products. We regret that we cannot include instructions for all of these products.

Example: You can turn off the Internet Explorer pop-up blocker as shown below.

Internet Explorer

If you have access to technical staff, you may wish to refer questions about pop-up blockers to them.

  • I am not able to view an attachment for my application. Why?

It may be that you have a pop-up blocker turned on. Please see the FAQ items about pop-up blockers.

  • Will I lose my data if my web session times out?

If a web page times out, then any data on that page that has not already been saved will be lost.

  • Can I submit my OAR application electronically and then pay by hard-copy check?

No, this is not allowed.

  • Can I print my OAR application and mail it?

No. OAR applications must be submitted electronically. This is because the hard-copy form and the electronic form are not identical.

  • Why do some of my older applications no longer appear on the “My Applications” screen?

When OAR applications reach a certain age, OAR no longer displays them. The aging depends upon the status of the application. At this time, applications with a “Returned” status remain in “My Applications” for 30 days. Applications with an “Assigned” or “Assigned with Restrictions” status remain for 30 days.

  • If I am an agent completing an application, why do I need to provide the employer’s email address?

If the employer’s email address is provided, then the employer will be sent an email immediately after the assignment is completed.

If the employer’s email address is not provided, then notification of the assignment will be sent to the employer through the US Postal system.

  • Do I have to register to use the premium calculator?

No, you do not have to register to use the premium calculator. Anyone can use it at any time. The premium calculator is not tied to an application.

  • Does OAR use rounding during premium calculation?

OAR rounds to the closest dollar when computing the amounts that appear in the premium column.

  • Can I use the “Back” button to return to a previous OAR screen?

We recommend against using the browser “Back” button. Using the “Back” button may interfere with OAR functions. We recommend that you use OAR navigation features (such as buttons, links, and tabs) to navigate through OAR.

  • Why do I need to provide my mailing address zip code when I make an electronic check payment?

When you make a payment via OAR, you are accessing the US Bank system. US Bank uses the zip code to authenticate you as a customer. The bank verifies the zip code that you enter against the zip code that OAR passes. If the zip codes do not match, then you are not allowed to continue with the payment.

  • What types of documents can I use as an attachment

We will only accept PDF or TIF files.

  • How to update The Online Assigned Risk Application (OAR) User Profile?

Click on My Account.

Click Edit Profile in the User Area.
